It moistens the fur quite a bit. I think that turning it on a little and continuing to brush is fine. If it's always left on, it could get the pet's fur very wet. In this case, I tried it with water; I don't know what else I could use.

important, it doesn't hold much water (like two bottle caps) and the steam doesn't come out hot but rather the temperature of the water.
This is my second time buying it, the cat likes it.
